AnyBook Privacy Policy

1. Overview

AnyBook is an e-book reader that works primarily offline. Most library, reading, settings, statistics, vocabulary, achievement, and bookshelf data stays on your device unless an optional online feature described below is enabled or initiated.

2. Local data and location

Book paths, titles, reading progress, settings, reading statistics, vocabulary, achievements, and shelf organization are stored locally.

If you enable the weather feature and grant location permission, Android may provide approximate or precise coordinates. AnyBook caches those coordinates and the latest weather response locally, and sends the coordinates to Open-Meteo only to retrieve weather data.

3. Files and Android distribution flavors

The Google Play flavor accesses books only after you select them with the system file picker and does not request all-files access.

The RuStore flavor separately offers an optional full-device book scan. It requests Android’s MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permission only when you start that scan and approve the permission. Book files are processed locally and are not uploaded as complete files for ordinary reading, parsing, or dictionary use. If you explicitly enable Google Drive file synchronization, complete book files and covers may be uploaded to your Google Drive.

4. Feedback

When you submit feedback, AnyBook sends the feedback text, an optional photo, device model, app version, locale, a pseudonymous anonymousId, and the latest sanitized app logs through the AnyBook feedback relay to the AnyBook support channel in Telegram. Logs are filtered to reduce the risk of including book titles, file paths, email addresses, credentials, identifiers, or book text.

5. Analytics and diagnostics

Firebase Analytics may automatically collect app launches, session duration, device and operating-system information, app version, and other automatic usage signals. It is not intended to collect book content, selected text, notes, dictionary queries, or library files.

Firebase Crashlytics collects crash and error diagnostics, including stack traces, device and operating-system information, app version, and a pseudonymous app identifier. Release debug and info breadcrumbs are not sent; warning and error data is sanitized before transmission.

6. Optional online requests

• Dictionary lookups may send the selected word to the AnyBook dictionary service after local sources are checked.
• Explicit AI or contextual explanation requests may send the selected word and a short surrounding excerpt through Cloudflare to the configured AI provider.
• Translation sends the text you choose to translate to the configured translation provider.
• Online-library searches and downloads send the search or download request needed by the selected source.
• Online recommendations send only the data needed for the recommendation request you initiate.
• Online text-to-speech may send book text fragments to Microsoft Edge TTS; the device TTS engine remains local.

7. Cloud synchronization

Supabase and Google Drive data synchronization is optional and disabled until you enable the corresponding synchronization or backup feature and sign in where required. Supabase may receive synchronized library metadata, progress, annotations, notes, statistics, achievements, shelves, goals, vocabulary, wishlist, and settings. Google Drive file synchronization may upload complete book files, covers, and related sync data to your Drive. Data stored by those providers is subject to their policies and can be managed from AnyBook’s synchronization settings.

8. Retention, choices, and contact

You can remove local data by deleting items, clearing the app’s data, or uninstalling the app. You can disable optional online and cloud features in the app. Third-party services retain transmitted data according to their own policies.
